Have you heard of a telempath before? If you've spent what feels like a lifetime having to absorb the narcissist's pain, feeling things you can't even begin to name, then this one's for you.
There will have been a shift from that to who you are now, and that only comes from healing and evolving into the narcissist's worst nightmare and greatest threat. You. You are the telempath. This is all about you today.
And trust me, once you realize what you actually are, you'll understand why the narcissist has been so rattled around you for so long. It makes sense.
Here's why.

1 A Telempath?!
Don't worry, this is no spelling error! A telempath is someone who has developed a razor sharp emotional radar to the point where they are able to predict and read anybody before they open their mouth. That's some gift, right?
I think it's something that is learned only when you've been lied to so many times, you can actually start to see the lie being built in real time, and you can spot it.
It's never nice to be in that position, but there is something magical about coming from the kind of place you've been mistreated so much that you've learned to do something wise with your experiences.
It's the same for manipulation; you've been at the butt of that so many times that now you can feel it brewing like a storm on the horizon. The air literally changes, and you know what's coming.
I had a client tell me she could feel the mood shift the second his car pulled into the drive. Before the key was even in the door, she knew.
More importantly, you're prepared for what's coming. Without realizing it, you've become a telempath. You're telepathic, and you happen to be an empath.
2 Created by the one and only narcissist!
I want you to sit with that word for a while, because I'm almost certain you'll have never heard of it until today.
The only reason it exists is because a narcissist, who has spent years training you to adhere to their control, and who has taught you how to read every single micro-expression, and even pick up on the tone of their voice, has made it so.
They've taught you the dramatic pause they make right before they smirk and deny their last misdemeanor. And now? Now you're able to read it. Did you have a choice? No.

I think all victims get thrown into the pit of abuse without the awareness that it's where the narcissist always planned them to end up. And I think once those victims are in there, they have a choice to make:
Do I stay here, or do I learn what got me here so I can plan my escape? This is survival mode, and it makes you stay for as long as you did.
You didn't sign up for a PhD in reading someone's silences, but here you are, fluent in a language nobody should ever have to learn.
Becoming a telempath means everything changes, and that starts with you.
3 What about this means the narcissist finds them their greatest threat?
Think about what a threat means. It means some kind of danger that directly affects a person, and that means you are that for the narcissist. Empaths are filled with emotional intelligence.

Here's the thing… telempaths aren't willing to play nice any more. They've survived too much to sit there and tolerate what is evidently abuse.
When a narcissist manipulates and controls, they do so right from their ego outward, because they want the win, and they need to see the way you react when they do win.
You can't shake somebody who's already read the room before you walked into it. Every little tactic they've relied on lands flat, and they feel it instantly.
A telempath won't need a thing. They already know what you're going to do. They know because when the narcissist was planning, they were calibrating every move before it even happened. Narcissists love to be unpredictable so their victims always feel as though they're walking on eggshells.
This is why they hate a telempath. A toxic game will only work if you aren't watching it. And telempaths see it all.

4 The tables turn; the magical moment
There does come a time where the magic really starts to happen. Usually, it will start with the narcissist entering the fray as normal, and they go to open their mouth.
They're ready to twist a story they've had planned, and there's just this look they have that you as the telempath will spot and get ready to attack. By attack, I don't mean rage, I also mean go in quietly and tackle your way.
I am aware of what you're doing. You don't have to raise your voice at all, in fact, holding a steady gaze is much more powerful than any noise you can make at that moment.

No narcissist will know what to do when you respond like that, and their little game has no rule for this type of response. It's not what they've been used to, and you'll take them by surprise (not in a good way).
For once, you aren't scared or confused; you're simply refusing to give the narcissist a reaction.
And you can almost see the cogs turning behind their eyes. The script they rehearsed all day doesn't work anymore, and they've got nothing else prepared.
5 Watch out for this…
Like everything, even this topic comes with complications. I want to be honest with you, because that's the only place you're fully able to heal. When a person goes from empath to telempath, it is possible for them to predict bad intentions in others who simply don't carry them.
It's tricky to find that balance when you first start building these new traits, and this is no exception. Betrayal can sometimes never come, and if a person is protecting themselves too much, they can be accused or thought of as being cold. They're not, and there's no betrayal occurring.
Sound familiar? I see this a lot with people fresh out of a narcissistic relationship. Everyone becomes a suspect, and good people get caught in the crossfire before they've done a thing.
Being able to know the difference between good people who can sometimes slip up and a narcissist is key in being a consistent telempath, and it can become a useful and powerful tool to determine good people from bad.
Try not to pre-punish as a telempath if you can help it, as you won't always catch the right perpetrator. It's also easy to think everyone is as bad as each other, but there are so many good people in the world who want healthy and good relationships.
You'll find them along the way if you stay patient and try to tune into genuinely toxic people.

6 What happens next? This matters to you!
The goal in trying to use your telepathic skills was never to become this different yet very real version of the narcissist. That's exactly what they probably want from you, so they have someone to blame. Instead, it's about refusing to be their target.
It's telling them, "I don't deserve this, and so I am going to get up and move away from everything you're trying to damage me with."
That's fair game, but it isn't the narcissist's game. You did earn that emotional intelligence that's grown inside of you. In order to be a telempath, you will have had to go through a lot of abuse and toxicity yourself, which I don't wish on anybody.
You had the painful conversations, and you waited for people to change who were never willing to do so. This built something within you that you're never going to be without now. You cannot unsee the evil in someone, and you can't unbuild your telepathic skills.

That is true power, and nobody can take that from you.
One woman told me she finally stopped explaining herself mid sentence with her ex, and just walked out the room. That silence, she said, was louder than anything she'd ever screamed.
7 The Physical Tells You Never Miss Now
Being a telempath means your body clocks things before your brain does. And when you're around a narcissist, the physical signals are loud.
You'll notice a tightening in your chest before they've even said anything off. Your jaw locks. Shoulders creep up towards your ears without you asking them to. Sometimes it's a wave of nausea, right as they walk in the room.
Someone told me last month that her hands go cold whenever her mother rings. Cold. Before she's even picked up. Her body knows.
And once you start listening to these tells, you can't unlisten. The narcissist hates that, because they used to be able to smooth over their behaviour with a charming line or two, and you'd shake off the unease. Now? Your body has receipts.
You feel the shift in the air when they're about to twist something. You feel the pull in your gut when a compliment isn't really a compliment. Your nervous system became a very inconvenient truth detector, and no amount of gaslighting can override it.

8 When Other Telempaths Find Each Other
There's something that happens when two telempaths land in the same room. You don't even need to say anything. A look passes between you, and suddenly you both know.
See also 8 Creepy Bedtime Habits That Only a Narcissist Would HaveYou know about the person across the table, you know about the tension in the air, you know about the story being spun.
I've watched this play out at gatherings, in workplaces, at family dinners. One telempath clocks the narcissist, another telempath clocks the first one clocking, and a quiet understanding forms without a single word.
For the narcissist, this is the stuff of nightmares. One person seeing through them was already bad enough. Two? Working in silent agreement? They lose the room and they can feel it.
They'll try to separate you. Pull one aside, whisper something about the other, plant a small doubt. It rarely works, because telempaths trust what they pick up on more than they trust what they're told.
And that trust, shared between two of you, is something the narcissist has no tool for.
